An update from on the trials of several Sahrawi political prisoners
Members of AdalaUK in the Occupied Territories of Western Sahara confirm that on 5November the following political prisoners appeared in court in El Aiuun:
The journalist El Haisan Mahmoud and the activist Biuchalga Abdelkrim. Their trials were postponed, at the request of the defence, until 19 November.
Both prisoners were detained following a peaceable demonstration in El Aiuun on 3 July 2014.
The following dates have been set for the trials of other political prisoners at the court in Agadir, Morocco.
1- The political prisoner Kach Ali. 10 November 2014. He was detained on 16 June 2013 enGoulimin, accused of taking part in a demonstration in Tantan in southern Morocco. He was previously sentenced to 4 years in prison.
2- The human rights activist Elmarkhi Abdelkhalik. 20 November 2014. He was detained on 29 April 2014 in Goulimin.
3- The student and political prisoner Saoiakh Jamal. 9 December 2014. He was detained on 10 February 2014 for taking part in demonstrations in Assa (southern Morocco) after the death of the young Rachid Chain.
AdalaUK will aim to give further information about such cases whenever possible, though getting information out of the Occupied Territories can be difficult.
