Delegation from Adala UK Organisation Arrives in the United States to Meet with Officials.

A human rights delegation from Adala UK arrived in the United States of America on the morning of Sunday 5th December 2016 to undertake a series of meetings in New York and Washington, DC. Their time will be spent meeting with a number of prominent organizations to discuss their respective country’s role in stopping the systematic violations within the Saharawi occupied territories of Western Sahara exercised by the Moroccan occupation.

The visiting delegation includes human rights activists led by the President of the Adala UK, Mr. Sidi Ahmed Fadel, and Executive Vice-President, Mr. Nick Dylan, organised with the co-operation of Adala supporters in the United States. The scheduled agenda includes meetings with members of the United States Congress and Senate, human rights organizations, and institutions of American civil society. In addition, meetings will be held with participating members of the UN Security Council in New York to promote the need to respect human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara utilising interational law and UN conventions.
It is noteworthy that the Adala UK organization has emerged in recent years as one of the most important human rights organizations working in Britain and other countries to stop human rights violations in the occupied territories of Western Sahara. The Portuguese president Mr. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, recently stated that the “organization’s message about the situation in Western Sahara deserves attention from the government.”
President de Sousa was responding to correspondence received from a representative of Adala in Portugal, requesting urgent assistance in raising awareness of the suffering experienced by Saharan detainees in Moroccan prisons, and to to give uppermost importance to ensuring the release of political prisoners and to enable the people of Western Sahara, the last colony in Africa, to realise their right to self-determination.
