About Adala UK
Adala UK is a UK-based non-governmental organisation committed to the protection and promotion of human rights in Western Sahara. The organisation systematically collects and verifies testimonies and other forms of evidence documenting human rights violations perpetrated against the Saharawi people in the territories occupied by Morocco.
Our principal objectives are to:
- Raise awareness among the British public and the international community regarding the ongoing and systematic human rights violations affecting the Saharawi population;
- Serve as a reliable and independent source of documentation on these violations for use by policymakers, civil society, and international human rights mechanisms;
- Advocate for sustained and effective pressure by governments and intergovernmental bodies on the Moroccan authorities to end abusive practices and ensure full respect for international human rights obligations.
Adala UK collaborates closely with a growing network of human rights defenders based in Western Sahara and Morocco, who provide first-hand accounts of the situation on the ground. These partnerships are essential to ensuring that accurate, timely, and courageous testimony reaches international audiences and informs policy responses.
Our work is grounded in the principles of justice, accountability, and the right to self-determination. In this spirit, Adala UK also expresses its unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people. We recognise the parallels between the struggles of the Saharawi and Palestinian peoples, both of whom face occupation, displacement, and systemic human rights abuses. As part of a broader commitment to human rights and international law, we affirm that freedom, dignity, and justice must be universal and indivisible.
