{"id":5609,"date":"2019-03-18T19:53:33","date_gmt":"2019-03-18T19:53:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/adalauk.org\/?p=5609"},"modified":"2019-03-18T20:04:05","modified_gmt":"2019-03-18T20:04:05","slug":"united-nations-second-roundtable-meeting-western-sahara-scroll-french","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/adalauk.org\/?p=5609","title":{"rendered":"United Nations: Second Roundtable Meeting on Western Sahara [scroll down for French]"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"col-sm-9\">\n<section id=\"block-system-main\" class=\"block block-system clearfix\">\n<div id=\"node-242122\" class=\"statement node node-statement clearfix\">\n<div class=\"content\">\n<div class=\"field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General for Western Sahara, Mr. Horst K\u00f6hler, will convene delegations from Morocco, the Frente POLISARIO, Algeria and Mauritania in a second roundtable meeting on Western Sahara on 21 and 22 March 2019 in Switzerland.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting will take place in accordance with UN Security Council resolution 2440 as a further step in the political process towards reaching a just, lasting, and mutually acceptable political solution, which will provide for the self-determination of the people of Western Sahara.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the meeting is for delegations to start approaching elements needed for building an enduring solution based on compromise. The meeting will also serve as an opportunity for the delegations to revisit regional issues and discuss how to build trust.<\/p>\n<p>The Personal Envoy has held bilateral consultations with the delegations in order to prepare for the roundtable. He hopes that the meeting will consolidate the positive dynamic created by the first roundtable, that was held in December 2018.<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019envoy\u00e9 personnel du Secr\u00e9taire g\u00e9n\u00e9ral pour le Sahara occidental, M. Horst K\u00f6hler, a invit\u00e9 les d\u00e9l\u00e9gations du Maroc, du Front POLISARIO, d\u2019Alg\u00e9rie et de Mauritanie \u00e0 assister \u00e0 une deuxi\u00e8me table ronde sur le Sahara occidental, qui se tiendra en Suisse les 21 et 22 mars 2019.<\/p>\n<p>La r\u00e9union se tiendra selon les dispositions de la r\u00e9solution 2440 du Conseil de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 de l\u2019ONU, comme une \u00e9tape suppl\u00e9mentaire du processus politique visant \u00e0 la conclusion d\u2019une solution politique qui soit juste, durable et mutuellement acceptable pr\u00e9voyant l\u2019autod\u00e9termination du peuple du Sahara occidental.<\/p>\n<p>Dans le cadre de la r\u00e9union, les d\u00e9l\u00e9gations commenceront \u00e0 discuter des \u00e9l\u00e9ments qui sont n\u00e9cessaires \u00e0 la construction d\u2019une solution durable bas\u00e9e sur le compromis. La r\u00e9union procurera aussi aux d\u00e9l\u00e9gations une occasion de revenir sur certains enjeux r\u00e9gionaux et de discuter de mesures de confiance.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019envoy\u00e9 sp\u00e9cial a d\u00e9j\u00e0 tenu des consultations avec les d\u00e9l\u00e9gations afin de pr\u00e9parer celles-ci pour la tenue de la table ronde.
