Adala supports Arms Trade Treaty event in Cambridge

Adala joins the Cambridge amnesty international city group and other NGOs on Saturday 16th June, 11.30am in Cambridge market square, to show support for a strong and effective Arms Trade Treaty.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of people are killed, injured, raped, and forced to flee from their homes as a result of the unregulated global arms trade. The Control Arms campaign, of which Amnesty International is a member, is a global civil society alliance calling for a strong and effective Arms Trade Treaty: a global, legally binding agreement that will ease the suffering caused by irresponsible transfers of conventional weapons and munitions. After 20 years of dedicated campaigning, we are on the verge of making this treaty a reality. In July 2012, world leaders will meet in New York to draw up this historic document. Julian Huppert MP has agreed to join the AI Cambridge City Group on Saturday for a photoshoot. We expect that this photo will be published in the local media, but in addition this photo will show the UK government that the city of Cambridge wants them to aim for the highest possible standard in the July negotiations.
