Robert F. Kennedy and Amnesty International USA new with Adala U.K. Delegation

A week long series of meetings in Washington, D.C. and New York City, focusing on the abuse of the human rights of Saharawi people in Western Sahara by Moroccan security forces, concluded today. Our delegation held successful discussions with Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights in the US capital, sharing common concerns and agreeing to maintain close relations to bring forward the voices of the Saharawi into the mainstream of international concern. Our friends at Amnesty International USA and Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights assured Adala U.K. of their continuing commitment to the people of Western Sahara, their peaceful protests and courageous reporting in the face of systematic abuse.
Our activists held additional meetings today across political divides in both the Senate and the House of Representatives, with discussions including the forthcoming 115th Congress and the new opportunities it will bring to end human rights abuses in Western Sahara.
Forging new working relationships and enabling organisations to reflect and accurately report the ongoing oppression in Western Sahara is an important area of the Adala U.K. mission. We are delighted with the warm reception and encouragement we received from all parties involved in talks including members of the Obama administration, members of the opposition, civil liberties groups and policy groups; all parties expressed sincere distress at the unacceptable treatment of Saharawis by unaccountable Moroccan security forces.
